TESTIMONIAL

Tom Anderson came to us through personal recommendation, always a good sign, and the only way we like to acquire trades.

Our project was of significant size (5 bed, 4 bath), we lived on site with a baby and toddler and then lived 5 hours away during major construction works.
Apart from keeping a few rear external walls, it could have been deemed a knock-down-rebuild. Tom knew it was essential to keep the character and individuality to our home. We didn't want a cookie cutter home, all finishes and designs were bespoke, while utilising several reclaimed materials. The home needed to look like it had always been in Longueville and not a new build.

Our main aims were to improve street presence, include a master ensuite, increase garage height clearance, improve internal natural light and gain internal access to the garage.
We had our initial DA plans drawn up by an architect, but as the build progressed we made minor changes either at our request or at Tom's suggestion. This is one of Tom's many fabulous attributes. He is able to think of the bigger picture and the project overall, not just what he is working on that day.
As always occurs with renovating old homes, we opened Pandora's Box, finding rotten beams, subfloor drainage issues, poor electrical wiring, nonexistent load bearing supports, all of which Tom took in his stride.
He managed his team and trades well, happily working with us as we wanted to manage the build ourselves, sourcing all materials, utilising our own milled hardwood Tallowwood timber, reusing all original windows and doors and using our own machinery where suitable.

Tom brought our build in on time (we set a very narrow window of 9 months start to finish) and only slightly over budget (not his fault, more ours, but we continued to change our scope of works, hello redoing the old inground concrete pool!)

We always felt safe in Tom's hands, we trusted him with decision making when we weren't around. He listened to our ideas and plans, ensuring we came to the outcome we'd envisaged from the start.
What Tom handed us at the end was a sensational family home, and a very strong marriage! Did we mention that Tom is a wonderful marriage counsellor between bickering husband and wife on and offsite, while also dealing with enthusiastic budding young (3yr old) apprentices!?
Tom remained focussed on just our project as agreed. We wanted our builder to be onsite every day and managing our build exclusively. He wasn't running between jobs and spreading himself too thin (although he wouldn't have had time to go anywhere else with the amount of work he had with us).

Tom's eye for detail is fantastic, with a brilliant, happy, energetic outlook on his daily work. He takes pride in all he does. Our site was always left in an immaculate manner and the demeanour and language used on site by all was the same (many neighbours made comments regarding this and how impressed they were).

In a bittersweet ending, after just 6 months living in our finished home we decided to sell. All agents we interviewed could not believe the level of craftsmanship and the unrecognisable change to our home (they had all seen the house before we bought it 3 years prior). When it came to open homes, the resounding message was "what a beautifully, solid built, practical family home".

We have no hesitation in recommending Tom and his TSA team to anyone wanting to build, big or small. We have been preaching his praises to all those who'll listen and it is evident as he has since had several jobs locally and with friends elsewhere in Sydney.

Tom started this project as just our builder, he finished as our friend. Not many people can say that about their builder.

Tom thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Glen and Pippie O'Brien"
